Conditionally severing herself from her inner Helly R way before she gets a chip. Some scenes are inspired by specific moments of the show to add to the deep layers of subtext.

Lumon Industries is under federal investigation, and the Board decides to use an untested and diabolical function of the Severance chip to literally silence the prosecution's star witness Mark Scout, a former Severed employee who has reintegrated and whose testimony could bring down the company. Helena Eagan has another reason for wanting to try out the Freeze Frame protocol: she has a paralysis fetish and needs some new material to jerk off to. It's Mark's sad misfortune to be both the star witness and the object of Helena's latest fixation.
Canon compliant through S2E10, but with some post-season 2 developments described in "full circle". You don't have to read that to follow this story. But I'd love it if you did! 😊

This is a torture/brainwashing fic that deals with some pretty heavy themes. There is suicide, self-harm, murder, mental conditioning, plus, other things I don't want to spoil. Mark Scout thought accepting the Eagan Foundation’s prestigious faculty fellowship would mean research funding, grad students, and maybe finally fixing his collapsing porch roof, not being tangled up with Helena Eagan herself.
She’s sharp, relentless, and entirely too good at getting under his skin. Between benefit speeches, tux fittings, and “work sessions” that keep veering into dangerous territory, Mark’s starting to realize this fellowship might cost him a lot more than his professional composure.
