Summary
He wishes he could simply enjoy this visit with his best friend for what it is but it’s so painful at times like this, where nothing and everything has changed.
And then Tooru huffs a quiet laugh, gaze unbearably fond as he leans across the table with an outstretched hand. He tucks his fingers beneath Hajime’s chin to tilt his head towards the light, thumb swiping with agonizing slowness across the edge of his bottom lip. In the next second Tooru’s sitting back, thumb against his lips as he licks away the excess sauce. His eyes are half-lidded, soft in the low light of their quiet booth, that breathy quality back in his voice as he teases affectionately, “So messy, Iwa-chan.”
Something in his gut clenches at that look, that tone. (Does he know how he sounds? He must, right? Even Tooru can’t be that oblivious, can he?) Heat blazes up through his chest until he knows his face and neck are positively saturated in a telling red. Thankfully the dim lights disguise most of his flush, and he can probably blame the alcohol for the rest, so he thinks he’s in the clear as he only slightly fumbles through his escape, using the excuse of needing the bathroom. Tooru says nothing, only smiles as he retreats.

However, he leaves out the parts Iwaizumi never knew about. Fifteen years of pining had come to nothing, but Iwaizumi never needed to know about that. But Iwaizumi was right, Oikawa would never be satisfied.

Summary
Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Organized Crime Control Bureau has set up a sting operation to catch a drug deal in the act, with the specific aim of arresting known criminal Ikeda Yasunori, one of the key players in Tokyo's illegal drug trade. He has a violent past and if they make any mistakes, he's going to take the opportunity to run. That's where Iwaizumi comes in.
It's fairly standard procedure to have at least one handler and canine pair at an operation, and Iwaizumi's one of the best. His canine partner Maro is aggressive enough to terrify the majority of the force, and that's just fine by him. If this guy's as nasty and desperate as the briefing makes him out to be, that aggression might be just what they need.

The man was devastatingly gorgeous.
The first thing Iwaizumi noticed was his height. He was maybe about 6 feet tall, just an inch or two taller than Iwaizumi himself, but his slender figure and long limbs, coupled with his slim fitting clothing, only further accentuated his model-esque stature. His brown hair was styled into soft layers that swept away from his face. Despite his boyish and dainty features, he gave off a commanding, almost regal vibe.
Then Mr. GQ Model opened his mouth and said the last thing Iwaizumi expected to hear.
“You heard about Pluto?”

“Are you an athlete too?” Oikawa blurted before he could help himself.
The man in question looked up and stared back at him with sharp, intense eyes.
“Yeah,” he mumbled in a low gravelly voice and Oikawa barely suppressed a shiver. “Judo.”
Oikawa was starting to regret looking so frumpy. If only he’d known today was the day he was going to run into an Adonis sculpted by the gods. Judo, huh? What he wouldn’t give to be thrown down by those arms. A low chuckle snapped him out of his thoughts. Shit, had he said all that out loud?
“Don’t think I’ve ever been called an Adonis before,” the judoka said. “I think I’d prefer Iwaizumi though. Iwaizumi Hajime.”

“It’s because we’re best friends that I wanna do it with you, Iwa-chan,” Oikawa says pointedly. “There’s absolutely no way we’d end up dating!” He says it with such conviction that Iwaizumi barely notices the way the words cut into him deep and raw. Oikawa’s always been good at that - sugarcoating the harshness of his words with a sweet tone and a bat of his long eyelashes. Even after all these years, Iwaizumi’s somehow still not immune to it. Sometimes, he finds himself lost in Oikawa’s warm, brown eyes. His ears focus on the playful rise and fall of his voice rather than the actual words coming out of his mouth, and before he realizes it, Oikawa’s convinced him to do something he’d been adamantly protesting ten seconds ago.
