Ballister looked up from his hands to see his boyfriend standing rigidly a few feet away. He looked ashen, hands shaking slightly. Ballister’s own face was streaked with tears and no doubt puffy. What a pair they made. His hands were beginning to feel numb again, the world a little distant.
They couldn’t stay like this at this moment. It would only make things break more than they already were.
“Honey,” he placated, voice thick with emotion. “Honey, I need some space. This will just get worse if we don’t take a break for today.”-

"You can't just step on everyone else's feelings so you can force things." You tried to explain him as calmly as possible, though still having a harsh undertone to it.
Cove's eyes narrowed into sharp slits, a look that was almost unheard of for him to direct at you. His tone of voice was equally as cutting.
"Is this what you want? For us to start fighting too?" You stare back at him after hearing his comment. He's blaming you because you scolded him.
"That's not what I want, but that doesn't mean it isn't what's happening." You tried to collect your thoughts. "What you're saying doesn't help finding out what happened to Terri." He shifts as if he demands something. Your gaze intensifies, eventually glaring daggers into him.
"Seriously, what do you want from me? What do you want me to say?"
"Why don't you say nothing? 'Cause anything you have said just makes everything worse."
"It has not!"

A short vignette collection detailing a crisis in the lives of Cove Holden and Riley Last (MC/"Jamie" Last) and how they deal with it. Told in four parts, each representing a stage in process of learning to acknowledge and cope with trauma. The first chapter of this story is light and suitable for all; trigger warnings are applicable primarily for chapters two and three. Please note: while this story does contain references to sexual abuse and mild violence, nothing is explicit and I have done my utmost to be sensitive to the topic. This story collection is meant as an emotional outlet and way of conveying to trauma survivors that they are not alone. I chose the voice of Cove Holden for this story because I find Our Life to be a very sensitive and insightful game that made an excellent vehicle for this narrative.
