“Killjoy.” He hooks his fingers into Dazai’s mouth, instantly pleased when the other man starts sucking on them, laving each knife and trigger callus with the tip of his tongue.

(It didn’t surprise Dazai that Atsushi was willing to--that Atsushi wanted to, sometimes--manhandle him a little. It surprised him that Atsushi had found out his own spine was actually made of steel as quickly as he did, by pushing him up against the elevator wall after a nasty brush-up with a murderer at the end of a case. That Atsushi took unfailing care to not cause actual damage even as he wrapped his hands around Dazai’s wrists and held him down was so unsurprising it was almost boring, except it was difficult to find any part of Atsushi boring.)

His skin itches but it’s not one that can be relieved, it’s an itch of despair and terror. He wants that stupid damn hug, he wants to be reassured that Kenma still loves him, he wants to tell all of this to Kenma but he’s just going to make everything worse.
Or maybe he’s terrified that if he brings it up, it’ll just be confirmed by Kenma.
That’s the impending nightmare. The scorching one that he wants to avoid at all costs.
