It's not jealousy. Adrian is adamant about that. They are actually insisting that it’s not any emotion at all. Not even dislike. They are simply completely uninterested in anything that concerns “the human”.
Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. They acknowledge that Grace and Rocky have a special bond after everything they went through together and also understand that none of that will ever pose a threat to their relationship.
Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. Adrian has told Rocky again and again that they are grateful and happy and wish the alien no ill will. They even helped with the construction of the biodome.
And yet they have no desire to get to know Grace.

Make her dinner and everything.” Diluc’s tone is assertive, as if he doesn’t expect any alternative whatsoever. As if Kaeya being there had always been part of the plan, as if this was some tradition of sorts.
“Diluc, I… I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it.” Kaeya interrupts, because this is… a lot. “As much as you love to go on and on about how inefficient the knights are, I do have a job with duties and obligations to fulfill, you know?”
“Well, from what I can recall, the Knights of Favonius are not such a heartless organization as to not provide their employees with days off, especially when arranged in advance, which would be the case because her birthday is in over a week from now.” Diluc supplies, his voice almost… smug? “Unless… you don’t want to come for Adelinde’s birthday. Which is fine. I’m sure she will understand when I explain it to her.” He adds, this time undoubtedly smug.Or: Diluc uses the mom card against Kaeya again, but this time for a valid reason.

There’s another quiet laugh, but it doesn’t quite stick the landing. Avery hears the hesitation creeping back in, curling around the edges of D3r’s voice like fog.
“In person,” D3r says, not quite a question.
“Yeah,” Avery says easily, like it doesn’t make his stomach flip. “In person. I wanna meet you.”
The words hang between them.
He watches D3r’s character on screen because it’s easier than imagining D3r’s face doing whatever it’s doing right now. The avatar doesn’t react, of course. Just stands there in the pixelated grass, the moon casting a pale square light over his shoulders. Avery imagines he can see tension in the way the model is angled, which is ridiculous, but he’s very good at projecting onto blockmen at this point.

The thing about time is that it's relative. If something happens in one moment it also happens in every moment throughout all of its existence.
That is to say that when a fraction of a fraction of the King slips into Avery's mind on New Year's Eve, Avery also wakes up a year prior with omnipotence, a world's worth of grief, and his best friend's real-life address burning in his head.
Along the way he picks up a baseball bat. It's a necessary provision for smashing Derek's laptop into a thousand pieces before he can so much as launch Minecraft.

The teacher doesn't even look up from where he's grading papers, only making a placating gesture with his free hand. "Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be fine. The three of you are friends, right? If anything, you should consider yourself lucky that the randomizer picked you three."
Behind her, she can hear Diluc start to shout as Kaeya cracks an egg over his head and calls him a combination of words that she didn't even know existed. That was their last egg. They have ten minutes left, and their plate is empty and cracked from when Kaeya had tried to use it as a frisbee to decapitate his brother.
She doesn't feel very lucky.

Diona wants to scream herself hoarse because she’s a kid, and she shouldn't have to take care of him while he’s in his drunken sleep, or when he's throwing up his intoxication. Nor should she be the one to clear away his mistake so Diona can avoid his stricken expression that she knows he deserves but hurts too much to look at.
Not that it mattered, she thinks bitterly, then guiltily and bitterly again. No amount of screaming and nagging and chastising worked before.

The knight shifts. “...Do we- I don’t…” He takes a moment to continue, “...I know you.”
That’s not ominous at all. Avery feels a little caught off guard, here. “Right… I don’t recognize your armor. What’s your name?”
The knight takes a beat to respond. “I don’t… I can’t remember what it is.”
Avery raises an eyebrow - well, the slime above his left eye. “You remember my name, but not your own?”
“...Yes.”
