Women she slept with didn’t usually get all funny about her not wanting to stay, like the men did. Amy thinks sometimes that they’re scared of her — that they can smell the broken, twisted, thing inside of her that men can’t, and it leaves them relieved to let her run a mile. It shouldn’t make her sad, not really; she wasn’t tender. She wasn’t the kind of girl you’d hold and kiss the top of her head until she fell asleep. She was the kind of girl that entered her dreams with blood on her hands and a fresh kill lodged in her jaw.
It still hurt. After almost three bottles of wine, it stung like a bitch. It didn’t even register that she’d said it aloud until Selina’s eyes were open and looking right at her. “A few times?”
