Summary
Alexander Hamilton didn't come from much. His mother's death followed by abuse at the hand of the system had landed him in Manhattan, aching for a more gentle hand. despite being acutely aware that if he ever returned to the world he knew, it would likely be as ash, he never stopped trying to survive. Inside, he was selfless, loving and full of ambition, paired with an unwavering resolve that was both beautiful and dangerous.
But no one noticed any of that. The world reduced him to his silence, and why wouldn't they? there didn't look to be anything special about that kid.John Laurens was tired, like an over-watered houseplant in a golden vase, he was desperate for a little sunlight. To him, New York was a haunted playhouse, trapped on stage with an ill-fitting mask and under strict orders to keep performing. Missing his home in the south and suffocated by the loss of his mother, he coped with fancy liquor and designer drugs. However, At the bottom of the bottle was immeasurable suffering, profound loneliness and a desperation to get better.
No one saw that part, and can you blame them? There didn't look to be any saving this kid.But looks can be deceiving.

Summary
Alexander’s chest rose up and down, breathless. His throat was painful and raw, his muscles sore from cramping and exertion. He sat down on the floor, closing his eyes to make the black spots in his vision disappear. He felt miserable.
He looked down at his ankle monitor, then around at his narrow apartment he couldn’t escape from. At least it was better than being behind bars, he told himself. He could have panic attacks in peace here, at least.

When John leaves upstate for a few days and comes back to find his boyfriend a completely different person, he has no clue on how to handle any of it.
Alexander isn’t speaking to him. Not in the “I’m mad at you” way, but it’s something completely different. He won’t even look him in the eye.
His attempts at trying to help Alex are falling flat; neither one of them were making progress with each other.
And it scares John.

John glared at him, still trying to catch his breath. He stood up. “How can you be so ready for this? You’re just…” he looked at him, the words trailing off.
Alex took a deep breath. He didn’t answer for a few moments. “I had to adapt to this situation very quickly. I didn’t know of any of this until yesterday. I thought my brother was dead. He’s not. I need to get back to him. I need to get back to camp so we can arm those people with these guns.” He tapped the bag.
“All that for people you don’t even know?” John crossed his arms. “You’re risking your life for a bunch of strangers?”
Alex frowned. “If I’m remembering correctly, you’re the one who saved me back when I was trapped by walkers. Because if you were in that situation, you would want someone to do the same for you,” He paused. “Am I wrong?”---
