“So you were snooping, you rat?” Rogue said, her cheeks getting redder before she shook her head and make a move to free herself. Gambit smirked, reaching to pull her in, their charts now one glued to the others.
“You were talking about Gambit behind his back and now are surprised that you are caught, Cher?”
“It was a private conversation. Or does privacy mean something else to you?”
“Hm. Guess you're right.” He said, smug as ever, before he leaned her head back. His hand traveled lower and lower, finding the place where the back lost its name. He smirked, his teeth showing. “still. It hurt Gambit's heart to know he don't mean nothing to you.

Summary
The X-Men had never been the kind of people the FBI called when a case was simple.
They were called when a crime scene made seasoned agents uncomfortable.
When the killer left no fingerprints. When the victims seemed chosen at random. When the crime looked impossible.
The unit was unofficially known as the Uncanny Behavioral Unit.
Professor Xavier had built the team around one idea: everyone had something they could see that other could not
And then there was Remy LeBeau.Remy specialized in thieves, con artists, organized crime, and offenders who enjoyed playing games with investigators.
He was charming.
Annoyingly charming.
And almost impossible to read.
Which was exactly why Rogue hated working with him.
At least, that’s what she told herself.
Rogue specialized in crimes involving interpersonal manipulation—stalking, coercion, obsession, and offenders who became dangerously attached to their victims.
She was good at reading people.
Unfortunately, Remy was the one person she could never quite figure out.

Summary
For the first time in living memory, the grounds around the X Mansion are quiet, which can mean only one thing. The X-Men are bored. Cyclops and Wolverine are snapping at each other more than usual. Rogue and Gambit are flirting enough to make the mansion's resident telepaths uncomfortable. And Nightcrawler is literally climbing the walls. Because of this, a team night out to act like normal people and blow off a little steam seems like a great idea. However, the world is still a dangerous place to be a mutant out in the open…
Note: Tags will change, and some may be missing. We made Rogue's backstory and made it much worse, and will not apologize for it. We will apologize for the pain it may cause you.

“Listen, Remy. I meant what I said earlier, about you deserving a woman you can touch.” Red on black eyes bore up into her own, and with him this close she stands no chance at hiding the way her breath hitches.
“Oh cher,” he drags a pair of gloved fingers down the back of her calf, “you’ve just got to be a little creative.” The smile that spreads across his face is slow and wicked. “Let Gambit show you.”

"What exactly did you show Jean?"
Remy felt a smile overtake his lips.
"You sure you wanna know?"
Because the professor Xavier and shame seemingly didn't go hand in hand, he nodded with confidence.
"If the image is powerful enough to repel an Omega-level telepath, then I must confess, my curiosity is piqued indeed."
"I can show you."
That was when the professor finally hesitated.

Her name was Laura. She was seven years old. She had followed Remy without a word. She didn’t know him. Remy himself had only learned of her existence less than a month ago, when it all began – when he’d received a message from an unknown number asking for his help.
If he’d known, he wouldn’t have answered.
If he had to do it over again, he would. Without hesitation.
Even though it was completely insane, and he had no idea how he was going to handle what came next.

After winning the criminal war that once drove his family from the city, Remy returns. When he discovers the truth, he does the one thing Rogue never saw coming: he walks into her system and files for custody.
The battle over their child is toxic, public, and tangled up with a love neither of them has managed to let go of.
Meanwhile, strange things keep happening around the little boy they’re fighting over. Broken objects become whole. Missing pieces return. And neither parent understands what their child is becoming.Bookmarked by depressed_star
