“Wheelers, huh?” Jonathan murmurs, with a slight smile. “Got some kinda spell over us, man.”

Mike barely made a sound despite the tears rolling down his cheeks until he choked out a strained, “Nancy, I can’t lose him too, I can’t lose Will, he--”
“I know,” she whispered, rubbing comforting circles on his back to try and soothe the uneven pattern of his breathing.
She felt, more than saw, Mike shake his head slightly from where it was still hidden against her shoulder, “No you don’t,” he whispered in a broken voice.
Or... Nancy and Mike have a much needed, and long time coming, heart-to-heart before the final battle with Vecna. Mike's emotional mask finally shatters and he confides in Nancy about his struggles and his feelings for Will.

“I don’t think I feel the way I’m supposed to towards boys,” Mike whispered, his hands quivering by his side. It took him a moment to build up the courage to finish his sentence. “I think about boys the way I’m supposed to think about girls.”
Mike confronts the feelings in his head, leading to an unexpected conversation with his sister and much needed conversation with Will.

There’s something wrong with Will.
It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.

“She’s grown on me. Robin. She seems good for you.”
There is a slight edge to her voice that has Will quickly meeting her gaze. Her lips are quirked up at the corners, and her eyebrow is cocked knowingly. It takes Will a minute to process what she’s insinuating, because the idea seems so ridiculous. But when realization sets in, his eyes widen, and it takes everything in him not to burst into laughter.
“Oh god, Mom, no,” he says, shaking his head frantically. “We’re not… No. Just no. It’s not like that. We’re just friends.”
What if he just told her?
Would it be the end of the world?
No, the end of the world is already happening, and it has nothing to do with his sexuality.
Or: After the battle in downtown Hawkins, the group recovers at the WSQK, where Will and Joyce have a heart-to-heart.

Will lets out a small squawk as Mike’s hand— his very cold, very freezing hand— finds its way around the blankets and under his sweater. “I’m sick, you weirdo,” he says, half-laughing into the side of Mike’s head, “I have a fever.”
“I don’t care,” Mike mumbles, “you’re warm and I’m cold. This is nice.”
“You’re going to get sick,” Will tries, for the umpteenth time, but it’s pointless. Mike Wheeler is stubborn and hardheaded and he never does anything halfway— not even this.
Will gets sick. He's dealing with it. Seriously, Mike- he's fine.

Summary
Now that the entire party is settled around the table, deep into the Christmas-but-not-really-Christmas-themed campaign, Will is having second thoughts. He brings his head up from his character sheet to glance at Mike, who peers back at him from over the master’s screen.
Will doesn’t know entirely what the campaign entails, but he knows what happens at the end, regardless of the players' actions. They are hurtling towards the end concerningly quickly.
“Can I roll for stabbing Lucas?”
Will and Mike have been dating for two months, but haven't told the party yet. They decide to break the news in a very Will-and-Mike way: via D&D-campaign.

Will squints, just barely, lips curling up in amusement. It takes Mike an excruciatingly long time to detect what exactly Will thinks of this matter, but what comes out is soft, mellow, and not particularly to Mike’s enjoyment: "That's kind of cute."
“It is not,” Mike hisses, and Will shoots him a grin. “She always talks about you, always giggles whenever you talk to her, and because she's like, incredibly adorable, and you’re so good with kids, I'm going to be trailing behind you guys like an absolute loser because she totally hogs you.”
"Wait," Will blurts, brows drawing close. "Are you jealous?"
Mike Wheeler is many things, but he is never jealous.
Except — maybe this time he is.

“Hey, how’d you sleep?” He asks, sitting up.
Will doesn’t respond for a minute, partly because he can barely get his brain to function, and partly because he is registering how far away Mike is compared to where he was before Will fell asleep.
“Slept okay. Why are you over there?”
The question slips out before he can stop it, but he really can’t bring himself to care.
Mike just shrugs, stands, stretches, and sits down next to Will on his bed.
“Better?”
“Mm.” Will hums contentedly, and promptly buries his face in Mike’s shoulder. He feels like he shouldn’t be doing this, but Mike is like, really warm, and he is wearing a soft sweater that makes him look cute and cuddly, and-
