Truthfully—though he’d never admit it anymore because of the way people reacted when he said it—he’d also always felt like he’d gotten away from Sloan a little too easily. He hadn’t had to kill Sloan, or blackmail him, or any of the other dark fantasies that had seemed like his only options for escape at the time. He hadn’t even had to find the courage to confess his shameful situation to a friend and ask pitifully for their help. And after all the threats Sloan had made about revealing Julian’s most damning secrets if he tried to leave him, it was almost disconcerting that Sloan hadn’t followed through on ruining his life. He wasn’t the type to break his promises of violence.

As cozy as the place was, it still wasn’t anything like the lounge. He could hear the soft swell of music being played in the room to the left, layered with the chatter of people and machines in the casino room to the right of the restaurant. Vic is standing next to him, panning his gaze around the room and occasionally checking his wristwatch while Nog silently fights with every little fiber in his being that just wants the freedom, some sign, no matter how minuscule, to latch onto the hologram's arm and lean on him rather than the black wood cane he had given him as a gift. This was a date after all, the setting is too objectively romantic for it not to be, and yet Nog is keeping as much of an arm's length as the stanchions on either side of the velvet rug path leading up to the front of the house will allow him to.
This was a date…
(Or; nog and vic were fucking in that holosuite.)
