A muted murmur of joyful voices paused. Then the door unlatched, and opened a crack, and Harrowhark Nonagesimus peeked out. She was heavily veiled, but unpainted. Beneath the dark lace, her high cheekbones were flushed more pleasantly than Gideon had ever seen. But the rest of her face quickly washed with a startled shock.
Harrow said, bewildered, “But - you already came back...”
Panicked, Gideon pushed the door open.
