“It’s supposed to make you feel so many things that it doesn’t make sense, but, like, in a good way,” Enid finished. What Wednesday said next was like an out of body experience for her. She forgot for a second that she was a coward when it came to her heart’s desire and it was a lapse that she might never forgive herself for.
“Show me,” Wednesday said. Enid stared at her for a second, not comprehending what she was saying.
“What?” Enid asked, certain Wednesday couldn’t have meant what it sounded like.
“Show me what all the fuss is about,” Wednesday clarified.

“Wednesday! Are you alright?!”
“Yes, I'm fine.”
Stomping down a surprise when the wolf let out a long sigh, deep rumble going along with it. “For the love of god, Wens. Can you just wait for me before going out to kill yourself?”
She evaded her blue eyes lest she'd feel something once again. Her eyes now glancing at her still elongated claws out, suddenly had the urge to touch it. Not realizing she did it just like the urge she had.
The claws slowly retracted at the touch of the goth. “How’d you find me?” She mustered up the courage to look at Enid, whose face was surprisingly unreadable.
The wolf's eyes were intense. It felt like something crawled on her spine as she saw her moved towards her by a millimeter. “...I followed your scent.”
Her heart was now beating erratically at her declaration. The conflicting feeling of running away and to stay put has never been this strong before.
Her mind reeling back to the book. This one last checkbox that Enid easily checked was now dawning on the goth. Her nose is then invaded by the familiar scent as she finds herself pulling towards her.
She let out a shaking breath as realization hit.
She's her potential mate.

Eda threw her head back and laughed, spinning around in excitement.
“Alright! This year is looking up!”
She jumped up onto her bed and spread her arms to take in the whole room.
“I have a partner in crime, unlimited access to the school, this grudgby season is looking to be better than ever, I have immunity from Faust because of creepy head witch Terra, and tryouts for the Emperor’s Coven are in seven months! Nothing could possibly go wrong!”
Raine raised their eyebrows but Eda was leaping off her bed and picking them up again, spinning around in a circle till they were dizzy. The pair collapsed on the ground and laughed till their sides were sore and everything hurt.
Eda suddenly sat up and looked over at them, eyes flashing excitedly.
“Alright. For our next prank, I think we should...”Or, the prequel fic that I haven't been able to find on AO3.

The ginger stood up and crossed her arms, her nails digging into her own skin. She gasped something under her breath. Her forearm divides, turning into flakes where feathers arise. She leans deeper into herself, trying to disappear.“Are you okay? II-Is this the curse?” The mint-haired bard frantically asks. Extending a hand as an attempt to bridge the gap dividing them.
“Just leave!” She screams out, not daring to face the bard. The beast inside her was clawing out. Her hands, her thoughts, weren’t hers anymore.

An apology. Eda was apologizing. Camila could feel the scrape of Eda’s nails as she squeezed her hands and proceeded to spew more offerings of forgiveness from her lips
