Kabru huffs impatiently, like he’s not the one drawing this out. "To see if you…might be willing to marry me."
He flashes a subdued version of his winning smile. Mithrun sits with his wine glass in hand, still as a statue, sure he’s misheard. A long silence stretches between them.
Marry him?-
Desperate to facilitate trade between Melini and the elven kingdom, Kabru comes up with a brilliant idea- a political marriage with the one person who won't actually fall in love with him. This absolutely will not backfire in any way. -

Summary
In retrospect, they were always intended to be rivals, though it’s only with the eyes of a man a decade and a half older that Ballister recognizes this. At eight, lost in the swirling hubbub of what is his first day at the Academy, he barely takes notice of any of the other kids at all, let alone the boy everyone is already talking about becoming captain of the guard one day despite the fact that he’s barely shed his baby fat.
Ballister and Ambrosius meet at eight years old and fall in love over the next 14 years.

Summary
At 46 years old, stay-at-home dad, investor, and best baker of the PTA Stede thought he was done learning new truths about himself, but when Mary offers him an out, he learns one more – he's gay. Newly divorced and with more time on his hands than he knows what to do with, he feels lost, listless.
Ed, having moved back to his hometown to care for his mother, works as a financial planner. It's easy work, and he's paid well, gets good benefits, but telling rich people what to do with their money doesn't offer any real challenge. He uses baking as therapy to deal with the stress of his life.
When baking legend Roach decides to run a cupcake baking competition to determine who he will take on as his new apprentice, the lives of Ed and Stede intersect – and it's not for the first time.

Summary
In a last ditch effort to save his crumbling marriage, Stede Bonnet decides to take an early retirement to focus on his family. His plan: to have a beautiful, custom tiny home built in secret to travel the country with his wife and children.
Edward Teach has been building tiny homes for nearly a decade, and after so many builds under his belt they tend to become standard and repetitive - until an inquiry comes in asking for the most ridiculous, expensive, and quite possibly impossible request he's ever received.

They didn’t make a real baby—they can’t make a real baby, obviously; neither of them has the necessary equipment for that—but… Wow, Carl really wishes now that Grace hadn’t said that. It’s forced him to have thoughts that he should not be having... about him and Grace actually… making a baby. What the fuck.
