“Hollander,” Ilya murmured gently. “Bath is ready.”
Shane cracked his eyes open, staring dumbly at the burly Russian hovering over him where he was still laying in bed.
“…bath?” He croaked, voice raspy with disuse.
“Mm. I ran you a bath. It will make you feel better before you go to sleep tonight. Will help with your sore muscles.”
Shane asks Ilya to fuck him gently during one of their regular hookups, badly bruised from their game. Ilya runs him a bath afterwards, and they fall secretly and desperately in love that way, through whispered confessions and late night conversations while Shane soaks, and Ilya quietly observes him.

“Ilya, what are we gonna do?” Shane says.
Ilya finishes whatever he has been doing on his phone, and tosses it gently to the bed beside him. He crosses the room to Shane, stands in front of him, squeezes into his shoulders with his big hands, rubbing them like he means to warm them up.
“Looks like we will have a little vacation,” he says, with a big obnoxious grin.
Boston and Montreal are sent to Paris to play against each other in an exhibition series in January 2017. Ilya and Shane decide to stay in Paris for one more night. Just one more night, so they can talk. Maybe finally understand each other.
They aren't expecting a volcano to erupt in Iceland and close all the airspace in Europe, leaving them stranded there. Together.

God only knows why he thinks it's appropriate to send what can only be considered borderline nudes to Shane, who is straight and in a committed relationship. Shane, again, tries to talk to Jessica about it, but she assures him that it's no big deal, plus, since they're gonna fuck this week, Shane might as well get comfortable looking at him.

That burn. Because, fuck, does Ilya want to. So desperately. He wants to have Shane like him so bad. But he’s not charming, Ilya knows that. He’s mean and lazy and too messed up.
“Il- Lily, are you okay?” The sarcasm is dropped from Shane’s voice, replaced by quiet concern.
“Yeah, of course.” But even to Ilya himself, it sounds like a lie.
OR, after Promises never made Ilya struggles with accepting that Shane actually likes him. Why would he? What could he possibly see in him? But there must be something, because Shane is apparently not letting him go.
