Summary
[...] The sound of her footsteps continue for a moment after the back door opens, but Jeff doesn't think much of it.
Thirteen seconds later, Toby (he'd heard his name in the hallway the day after "the incident", through hushed whispers of did you hear that Toby broke Jeff's nose on his first day?) comes barrelling into the room, and Jeff wonders if he should've.
There's a new proxy. Jeff's kind of obsessed with him, even though they've barely spoken, and have never once had a pleasant conversation. He deals with it accordingly.

Summary
Said killer hung from a low-hanging tree branch by his legs, hands stuffed into his hoodie pockets even as the blood stained material slid down a little due to gravity. Being upside down makes Jeff’s carved smile look like a gruesome frown, his ebony hair falling out of the hood still partially over his head. Jeff grins a bit, the red of his irises seeming to glow mischievously. “You look angry,” he points out, his tone filled with that deviousness that his eyes shared, “you look upset. Interesting..” Arms move to cross over his chest, “What are we angry about?”

Summary
incessantly, on and on, without pause. waking, disintegrating, over and over, endlessly. he was weary, now. the cycle of karma had branded itself into his skin, blazing cold, frigid fire. he was like a spider caught in its own web, like a snake biting its own tail, helpless to be devoured by himself.
everything left of him, eroded away, the ocean of time carving its way through his cliffside.
he, only once, lived guided by his own pleasure and displeasure. after that, the wheel of fate, the rope of destiny, tightened around his neck, far more a cage or prison than the boy with blossom hair ever had been.
vexation, humiliation, exhaustion, and finally nothing at all– a blank slate, cleansed of evil.
…the buddha and king enma both must be laughing at him.

Summary
Now that he's looking for it, Yuuji can feel it: the words are etched into him, woven into his muscles and carved into his bones. Start by saving me, Itadori. Yuuji promised he would, so now he must.
The burning pain is starting to come back again. It begins in his chest this time, slightly to the right. Yuuji swallows, reaching up to press his hand against it.
So, he thinks dazedly, as the universe begins to take him apart. This is what happens when you break a Binding Vow.
-
Megumi dies in Shinjuku. Yuuji is thrown back in time to save him. Again, and again, and again.
(Or: Yuuji says “I’ll save you, Fushiguro” and the universe says “bet.”)

“What am I trying to do?” Feng Xin asks.
“You’re trying to destroy my cultivation,” Mu Qing reminds him.
He has to give Feng Xin some credit. There’s no glimmer of recognition in his eyes, and his mouth just stays slightly parted as if he’s searching for the right way to defend himself. “What the fuck?”
—
Mu Qing uncovers Feng Xin’s plot to kill him (or so he thinks).
