“I- sorry, yeah I’ll- I’ll help.” He replies, shaking his head, in disbelief that he couldn't even last ten seconds before immediately caving and doing as Will asked.
“Wow.” Max scoffs in amusement, clapping her hands dramatically. “Look at that Wheeler, you almost did it, you almost said no to Will. Very proud.” She sarcastically praises.

Max makes fun of Mike for doing whatever Will wants so Mike tries to prove her wrong but fails miserably.

Right now, it's being the worst summer ever for Mike Wheeler. Even though a few weeks ago he had some really cool vacations at his cousin's house, it was in a kind of shitty town, but since it had a beach, the Wheelers liked it a little more, but not all of them. Mike hates the beach; he thinks there's no worse place than a beach. Every time he sees a beach, he wants to run until he gets to some cold, cool and dry place where he can get under a blanket and sleep comfortably like he's 11 again. He knows that it will never happen, but that doesn't stop him from dreaming about it, and in fact, it's a very recurring dream. He and his ex bestfriend (Will), playing DnD all the night, obviously his other friends are there —Lucas and Dustin— but he feels like they're in the background, just annoying a little his thoughts about the boy he has in front of him. And anyway, even though Mike won't admit it, he misses Will. Ever since he moved to California with Him, he feels a bit lonely. He usually blames it on missing his girlfriend, but when he thinks about what happened and his feelings at night, he knows it's not because of El, it's because of Will.
Or: mike feels guiltier every day the fight with Will.

“It's getting worse… My anxiety… And the meds aren’t helping, and my mom wants to get me a therapist because I refuse to talk to her! And she thinks I need to start dealing with it more. But the thing is I won’t talk to her because I know she just wouldn’t understand!”
His voice gets louder, more aggressive as he speaks. It’s kind of a relief seeing him like this again, yet kind of scary. He’s waving his hands in the air like it will help me understand. I just sit there as shock and worry wash over my face.
He turns to face me, realizing my expression, “Fuck! I’m sorry, like I said the meds aren’t working and I just feel like I have all this pent up anger, the meds are supposed to help but they're just keeping the anger in and I feel like I'll explode if I get slightly pissed. So I’ve kind of taken like.. a vow of silence? I don’t even know anymore.” He explains.

Mike is diagnosed with diabetes and is struggling with crippling anxiety, and addiction, while Will is struggling with his own internal stuff and self harm. They are both confused and scared of themselves. Figuring out what they want and who they need. Each other, always.
