“But it's ok, really. I don't blame him and it's probably better if we don't talk,” Clark continued. He felt like each word that slipped into the air between them carried a weight that had been released from his chest. He was lighter, despite the difficult topic. “It's just a shame, because I have so much I want to say to him. But I've made peace with the fact that I won't be able to.”
The last golden fingers of sunlight had faded into the horizon, and the two were trapped in the moment between night and day. It washed the city in purple, and Clark watched as street lamps flickered on.----
Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne were high school sweethearts, until Bruce left. Clark still has so much he wants to say and tells Batman.

"Oh." John sees something. Arthur can't figure out what it is. The tap is dripping again.
"What? Is there a mark?"
Slow breaths. A warm wet cloth on his chest. Awful and wonderful and the same time. Softly scrubbing back and fourth.
"No. I just don't want my blood on you."
Blood? Why is there blood? John's blood? Arthur is feeling dazed. Keep it together, Lester. It was just a dream.
"Why?"
"Why?" John laughs. "I don't find it kind on the eyes. Does this feel good?" He must have seen the relaxation in Arthur's face. The rag starts making circles along Arthur's sternum. It washes away the stickiness and the cold.
"Yes."
