THIS IS SUCH A WELL-RESEARCHED, INCREDIBLE GEM OF AN ESSAY. even if you're already very convinced, this is still worth a read, because the author is HILARIOUS and approachable and absolutely meticulous. i love this essay with alllll my heart and you bet your butt i will be rereading it from time to time!!!!! fantastically argued, evidence well-presented, very well-organized, and entertaining to boot, miles edgeworth would put a seal of approval on this imo. highly recommended

“Why not go shopping together?” Aina suggests. “Then you can, y’know, gently steer him in the direction of clothes you want to see him in.”
Galo hums. That’s not a terrible idea. He considers it for a few seconds, then wrinkles his nose. “What if he figures out that’s what I’m doing?” he asks.
“He will,” Remi says. He’s on the other side of the room face-down on the sofa, half out of his uniform and still covered in this afternoon’s soot. He claimed he was on his way to the shower about an hour ago, so that seems to have become a goal of the past. “Lio’s smarter than you.”

Percy wasn’t there. His father, on the other hand, was, and arrived in Percy’s room with a cricket bat hoisted over his head. He lowered it to his side when he saw the blubbering teenager on his son’s floor, and Monty managed to explain the situation after a few false starts.
Percy’s father softened at once and explained the wedding Percy and his mother were out of town to attend. Monty struggled not to burst into fresh, miserable tears at the brutal injustice of it all and left through the front door.
