Aemond watches in silence as Jacaerys escorts him down the aisle, Luke’s sea-green maiden’s cloak drifting behind them. This is a ceremony for two princes, but there had been no argument as to who should take the bride’s place by tradition. Aemond is taking Luke under his protection in the most literal sense. Making him a Targaryen at last.
Luke keeps his face carefully blank as Aemond sweeps his own red-and-black cloak over his shoulders—as they both say the words that will bind them together for life—but there is a shyness there that he cannot conceal; a plain, youthful nervousness for the night ahead.
