Summary
It all started with a file.
Mike had been hunched over his desk for most of the morning, squinting at a deposition summary that refused to make sense. The office hummed around him. Somewhere down the hall a phone rang and rang. He rubbed his eyes with the heel of his hand and started the paragraph again from the top.
Harvey appeared behind him without a sound. He leaned in, one hand braced on the edge of the desk, the other reaching past Mike's shoulder to flip a page.
"There," Harvey said. "Paragraph four. They contradict themselves."
Mike did not answer. Mike could not have told anyone what paragraph four said. The air had changed. Something warm moved through it, woody and dry at the edges, and underneath that something deeper, dark and a little sweet, that slipped away every time he reached for it.
He breathed in, carefully.

Summary
“What?” Harvey asks, frowning as he studies Mike’s expression. “That look- you wanna say something.”
“You’ll hate me,” Mike says, shaking his head.
“Never.” The answer comes so quickly that Mike pauses, searching Harvey’s face for any sign he might take it back.
“I was just gonna say that—” He reaches up, tracing Harvey’s cheekbone with his fingertips before letting them settle beneath his eyes. “You’re a really pretty crier.”
There’s a beat of silence.
“Oh my god, Mike.” Harvey pushes his hand away playfully before turning onto his back and switching off the nightlight.

Summary
“Mike?” Harvey appears in the doorway, already fully dressed in his custom-tailored tuxedo.
Of course he looks like he’s stepped out of the pages of a god damn Tom Ford campaign.
Mike sighs again, turning around. “I’m defeated.”
“Your bowtie skills are questionable.”
“It’s a stupid piece of fabric.”
“It’s a requirement for this fancy charity event.” Harvey chuckles. He gestures Mike closer, backing into the bedroom. “Come here.”
