“Wondering how I might bleed?” Pantalone asked with a faint smile as Dottore's thumb traced the steady rhythm of his pulse.
“No,” Dottore replied.
His thumb pressed more firmly against the pulse beneath Pantalone’s throat.
“Shouldn't I be the one to choke the final breath from your lungs, rather than leave the task to those pathetic things you insist on inhaling?” His voice remained maddeningly calm. “After all, it was I who gave you the ability to breathe so easily in the first place.”
Pantalone’s pulse faltered beneath Dottore’s thumb, drawing a self-satisfied smile onto the doctor’s lips.
“How transparent,” Dottore mused.

- Making demands in your situation...- Zandik finally spoke up - Did you not see what I am capable of? Being scared of me would be a smart choice.
He knew they all called him a monster behind his back. He would obviously prefer respect for all his hard work, but being someone people feared was at least better than being pushed around by them.
- This was a strain to see, yes. I'm not really used to participating in groundwork. However, considering his betrayal, that was nothing but a reasonable reaction.
He might have been the first person to call any of Dottore’s actions reasonable.Dove is very much alive and you can eat safely – despite the tags, this is mostly a happy fic. I wanted to show how I image their dynamic throughout many years of their relationship. This is very slow burn, because they’re both emotionally stunned. I made some changes in the timeline.

They fight and fuck about it and try to outfreak one another, like a pair of emotionally-constipated fools who've tread into strange territory their emotional selves aren't mature enough to handle.

"Feofan…" he took a step closer until his boots touched the banker's knees, "what do you see?"
"Nothing."
Dottore clicked his tongue against his teeth in disapproval, passing both gloved hands roughly through Pantalone's hair. "Wrong," he hissed. Holding the dark locks tightly, he tilted the banker's head back so they would be forced to stare at each other more clearly.
Pantalone bit his lip hard, fighting to prevent either an insult or a moan from escaping his throat. He willed his voice to remain steady, filtering his answer through the glare penetrating his blindfold. "I see your silhouette, and nothing besides it."
"Now that's a good answer," Dottore's voice echoed from behind him, as two other hands reached out to lay claim to his body. They slid with familiarity from his hips to his stomach, from his ribs up to his chest, until one stopped over his collarbone, while the other wrapped around his neck.
"W-what is wrong with you…?" he managed to spit out between clenched teeth, gasping when the breath that had escaped him in his surprise finally returned — or at least, as much as the heavy hand pressing into his neck would allow.
