“Helps me dance,” Luffy said, his grin wide and mischievous as he turned back to Sanji. “C’mon!”
Sanji blinked. “C’mon what?”
“Dance!” Luffy grabbed his wrist, tugging him away from the counter with the kind of strength that left no room for argument.
“Luffy, I’m cooking—”
“It’ll wait!” Luffy interrupted, already pulling Sanji into the middle of the kitchen. “This is important!”
Sanji stumbled, his protest dying on his lips as Luffy’s hands found his, their fingers intertwining with surprising care. Luffy’s grin was infectious, his laughter bright and unrestrained, and Sanji couldn’t bring himself to push him away.

“You know I love you, right?” Luffy’s voice is quieter now, the words slipping out like they always do—without hesitation, without fear, as if saying them is the easiest thing in the world.
Sanji’s breath catches in his throat. The words have become familiar in their own way, but they still hit him every time, like a wave crashing over him. The world around him blurs for a moment, the edges softening, as if Luffy’s presence alone is enough to drown out everything else.
The truth is simple, almost cruel in its clarity: he knows. He knows what Luffy means when he says he loves him, and maybe, just maybe, that’s what’s been scaring him all along. How easy it is for Luffy to say those words—no hesitation, no second-guessing, no walls between them. How could Sanji ever be brave enough to say it back?
