He rose, closing the distance they had kept until then. There had been a kind of restraint in the way they’d walked after the fight was done: circling each other, drawn to the other’s presence, yet quick to part at the slightest touch. Both needing contact, neither ready to ask for it. Now there was no space left for reserve. Lan took his place beside Moiraine—shoulder to shoulder, thigh to thigh.
It was Moiraine who laced their fingers together, just before pulling his hand to her chest, where she covered it with her free one.

He and Moiraine had not spoken since she had returned, the chasm between them so deep that he doubted they could ever overcome it. He had argued that she would refuse to see him, that someone, anyone, would have a better chance.
The Wheel, it appeared, had other plans.

The use of the title was a signal Lan had learned to recognize as her way of telling him not to press further in matters of disagreement. When she could avoid it, the Aes Sedai refrained from issuing direct commands – an habit as old as their bond – but warnings were sometimes necessary.

This is totally self-indulgent because I feel like Moiraine is completely misunderstood by so many characters around her so I put her on pain meds to make her open up more-
do not be mistaken- this is not happy (at least not yet)- she is suffering big time, as I imagine she definitely did after the Eye of the world, but I wanted to explore Nynaeve and Egwene learning a bit about who she actually is.
