Jean Kirschtein is a third year college student at Trost University, and part of their rowing team. His esteemed boat - the mixed gender 8 - has been a consistent source of medals and wins for the team. Jean loves rowing more than he's ever loved anything else. And everything was going just fine, until one of the members of his boat graduates, and some new kid named Marco is set to fill his spot.
Jean wants to hate Marco, he really really does. But no matter how he tries, he just can't get the freckled bastard off his mind. And he's a little bit worried that the feelings that are bubbling up in his chest might be more than friendly.

Also there's this really cute guy at the diner Jean goes to after work.

Them fancy ones with the guns on the top. Every one of you has a shift on one of our look-outs. It’s highly unlikely they’ll be stupid enough to come back but keep your eyes peeled. And–” Shadis handed Jean a clipboard with a blank piece of paper. “--if you feel so inclined to look for the little shits this here is our volunteer slip. An opportunity to get out of this hell hole for a few days.”

Summary

Surprisingly, the call was for the new neighbor that moved in the night before. The door opens to a very intoxicated Jean Kirschtein who mistakes the good officer for the male stripper his friends had hired for his welcome party. Hilarious antics ensue in a tale about how two broken people learn to put the pieces together with one another after life has dealt them a rather unfortunate hand of cards that may or may not come back to haunt.
