From what he could figure, all they saw were a set of grey and gloomy stairs, a little old and grimey, with some paint peeling from the walls and old advertisements with faded ink still stuck on various edges.
He saw something entirely different.(Or, Soleum explores a Darkness with Daydream. Later, he revisits the ghost story with Hyunmu-1.)

South Korea could create another sovereign nation with the number of people that Jaekwan feels responsible for. They could populate Mars with the number of people that Jaekwan feels responsible for. They could create another Milky Way with the number of people that Jaekwan feels responsible for. "What else is new?"
In which Agent Choi expertly navigates his relationships with his new coworker, his job, his perennial traumas, Agent Bronze, and the gruesome reality of the paranormal, not necessarily in that order.

“I told you,” Ho says. “It bothers me when people mess with memory.”
He isn’t smiling now. He looks at Choi with serious eyes.
For a moment, he looks like he hates him.
Like he wishes he could carve Choi’s heart out with his own hands.
“You shouldn’t be allowed to forget about the people you love,” Ho says. “You should have to live with it.”

“Are you Braun?” He asks, his voice cutting through the silence of the night. For such a beautiful scene, it is not accompanied by any familiar sounds or smells, breaking through the illusion. “Am I dreaming?”
The silhouette of the television head comes closer, and Braun replies in that smooth, charismatic voice that is little more than a rumbling whisper with an undercurrent of electrical hum. A voice literally made to be adored by the masses, “I am your Good Friend, come to visit.”
(Kim Soleum and Braun finally have a long overdue talk after the events of 208.)

And you learn to understand Klein in turn. You cannot claim to understand all of him, not when he was so human, not when he felt so deeply and grieved for each innocent life he took and still wept even after so many people had died for him and perhaps his heart is soft and easily punctured but nothing would ever spill out from the wound, he would not lose himself and you think that is the most impressive part of it all.

He learns of lots of things that these people say his older self has experienced in the apocalypse: kindness, companionship, strength, family, love, sacrifice; all things they say the older him has provided to them.
(He's not sure he believes it.)
They seem to know him too well to the point that it scares him a bit, listing things they couldn't possibly know if they didn't; his hate for tomatoes, his tendency to lie with a straight face, his love for stories; even predicting correctly that his favorite food will be murim dumplings, once he tries them. They try very hard not to overwhelm him, but both the praise and insult they give him remain unchanging, time and time again.
The person they describe— it doesn't sound like him. Like anything he could possibly be.
(And yet, it's a fact that they're here, waiting for that person to come back to them. It's comforting, and frightening at the same time; both an assurance and an expectation.)
