It was not that there were any foul rumours about the Strong girls. On the contrary, Alicent could garner almost no information about them, save that they had been rescued safely from the fire that had killed their brother and father. Rosamund Fossoway told her that she thought their mother had been the late Lord Lyonel’s second wife, or perhaps the third, the Piper. These facts seemed utterly benign, commonplace even. And yet her skin still prickled every time she thought of those girls arriving at court. Perhaps she was loath to surround herself with more Strongs. Lord Larys had proven himself loyal, but his methods…unsettled her. The deaths of Ser Harwin and Lord Lyonel still hung over the court. The stench of death seemed to surround House Strong.
But that was unkind. These girls had nothing to do with all that. Whatever her personal misgivings towards their brother, Alicent would not allow them to colour her attitude towards three innocent maidens.

A dead princess and a dead prince, Uncle Daemon had japed on Dragonstone’s causeway. Neither of them will mind.
