Summary
Dazai sets his luggage down. Two Rimowa suitcases, matte black, monogrammed in silver. It makes an inappropriate thunk against the tile. The sound echoes. He glances at the ceiling, half-expecting the RA to crash through the panels and cite a noise violation. Nothing happens. The silence is complete, which is somehow worse.
He’s sat on the floor, slumped over a still unpacked box, face like thunder, when the door swings open. A flash of orange greets him in his peripheral, and for a second he does a cartoon-style double take. Is that a girl? It can’t be a girl. Surely they don’t have mixed gender student accommodation at Todai. It doesn’t seem that progressive here.
“Hey.” The person says, and Dazai realises they are addressing him. Because he’s the only one in the room. “You must be Dazai, I’m Nakahara Chuuya. But please, for the love of God, just call me Chuuya.”
Definitely not a girl.
///OR: Dazai is being forced to attend university by his wealthy and powerful parents. And he’s straight. But his new roommate is proving to be… difficult. Not because he’s pretty. No, he’s just annoying. Did he mention he was straight????

Summary
It’s essentially a marriage, Chuuya knows. A mating bond is for life, until death do they part; even then the one left behind will be haunted by whispers of another soul through their bond. Coupled with the fact he’s doing it with Dazai, who exudes the futility of life with each breath he takes, it’s the same as asking Chuuya to be tormented constantly when Dazai inevitably leaves him, leaves this world.
Wherein a mating bond is complicated, and feelings even more so.
