For their three month anniversary, Eddie had taken Buck to a new Italian restaurant where they thought they would avoid bumping into anyone they knew… unfortunately, as they shared a quick kiss in their supposedly secluded booth, they heard a shocked ‘Buckley? Diaz?’ that pulled them away from each other- Chief Simpson standing in front of them with an astonished look on their face.
After an official reprimand (and a private one by Bobby) it had been determined that one of them would have to change shifts- Eddie ultimately being the one moved to work B shift at the 123.
They had been back on shift together for three months after spending so much time apart, just for it to be ripped away from them again- it was hell.

The thing was Eddie didn't dislike dogs. He was scared of them. When he was a little boy, a pack of homeless dogs snuck into his parents’ backyard. His parents weren’t home and Eddie had two little sisters to protect. So, as a little boy does, he charged at them, trying to fend them off. It worked. Almost perfectly. But one of the dogs bit him hard, leaving ugly scars on his right leg. From that moment on, Eddie avoided dogs as much as he could.
That was until his best friend Evan Buckley decided to get one.

His stomach drops as Eddie’s face morphs into a sorrow that rivals the funeral itself.
“Buck, I–” He steps forward, and even though everything inside Buck wants to fall into his arms, he steps back jerkily. “I’m here…” A pause. “I’m here right now.”

Tommy lived in a one-story house that looked exactly like every other one on the block. Eddie supposed it made sense; he never thought anything about Tommy really stood out, made him special in any way. He pounded on the door and waited. Thirty seconds and he’d kick the door open if he had to.
Turns out he didn’t. After fifteen seconds, the door opened and Tommy stood in front of him, hands in the pockets of his sweatpants and an unamused look on his face. He looked the same as usual. Too similar, given everything that had happened. Not even a hint of a bag under his eyes.
“Where’s Buck?” Eddie looked behind him, closing the space between them as he tried to push past Tommy.
In the aftermath of 8x15, Eddie Diaz gets a phone call from Karen, sending him into a spiral over Bobby's death and on a plane to LA in search of Buck. When he finds out that Buck's taken up residence at Tommy's for comfort, he does everything he can to show love for his partner and reveal a big secret between them.
