Summary
Puss in Boots was determined to live. Death was determined to claim his last life. And somehow amidst the struggle and confusion, the Wishing Star granted a connection between these desires that wasn't supposed to exist.
Puss makes his wish and finds himself 8 lives back in the past. But what should have been a second chance for him to fix his mistakes, ends up more complicated than he could have ever imagined.
Because even after escaping to the past, he still carries with him the Mark of Death.

“I’m not goin’ to!”
“Shut up, shut up, you have to! You can’t keep goin’ on like this and pretend that you’re not dyin’!”
“I love doin’ this, alright?” He pushed himself upright the best he could, wincing as Nooshy’s claws slightly dug into the skin underneath his costume. “I love singin’, a-and I love dancin’, it’s all I have left—you can’t take that away from me!”
“You idiot, can’t you see it’s takin’ a toll on your body?” Nooshy spat. “You’re gonna make it worse, you’re gonna die quicker and I won’t have that—I still can’t wrap my goddamn head around why you’re so bloody persistent in refusing the fuckin’ treatment—”
“Because I don’t want to spend the little time I have left bedridden and stuck in a hospital room!” He snapped, and Nooshy didn't say anything else.
The last several chapters of Johnny's life after he's diagnosed with a disease that will write out the end of his story.

“For the last time—” Nooshy sneezed loudly from underneath the mass pile of blankets and nobody even flinched, having gotten used to the whole thing at this point. She sniffed noisily. “—I, am not sick.”
“Yeah, sure—that much is pretty obvious.” Porsha snickered.
“I really am not!” Nooshy’s disheveled head poked up from underneath a pink fuzzy blanket, pitifully blowing her nose with one of the tissues she had stuffed into her pocket. “I’m never sick!”
“Just because you have a hella strong immune system doesn’t mean that it’s impossible for you to get sick.” Ash pointed out as she handed Johnny and Porsha their Starbucks drinks. “It just means that—”
“I don’t feel like arguin’ wif logic at the moment, thank you very much.” Nooshy frowned as she cut into Ash with her nasal voice, nose stuffed before she let out a violent sneeze again in Porsha and Johnny’s direction. ”Achoo!”

“... Johnny, we don’t apologize for being afraid.” Buster said quietly. “Being afraid isn’t something to be ashamed of — it’s what makes us strong enough to fight against what we face.”
