The bell rings familiarly, the same noise Grian heard since elementary school. He’s still zoned out, thinking about how to escape through the window, maybe run to one of the fast food places across the street...
...He looks over, and sees a guy smiling a little too brightly at him. He had brown shoulder length hair half pulled up, green eyes, a varsity jacket with blue jeans, and that smile was still blinding Grian's eyes. He was forced to look down at the table. While doing so, he caught a glimpse of one of the cheap rubber bracelets the football team gave out at the games. “GoodTimes #14” was in blue lettering on the white background of the bracelet.
“It’s my lucky number.” A voice splits the silence, it’s the guy’s voice, clearly noticing him staring at his bracelet. Grian did just lock eyes with him then immediately look away, that may have been a little rude

Grian presumed his soul was actively leaving his body – providing him with just another last minute delusion to take him into the next life - until he heard music.
His tired delusions were a lot of things, but they were never music.
Grian blinked, once, twice, then a third time. Still, the shape on the horizon didn’t fade. The light didn’t fade. The music didn’t fade. This wasn’t the blurry shadow of what may or may not be a rock, or the light of the moon against a wave imitating a town. This was a genuine miracle. This was his relief.

Summary
She would’ve caught the way Hotguy’s eyes dart between her and the floor, rubbing his fingers together. She doesn’t see any of it, only able to hear the result. “Did I do something to make you hate me?”
Her breath stills at the question, at how quiet and oddly small Hotguy’s voice sounds. It shakes slightly with anxiety or apprehension, she’s never heard him like this. And it’s something she doesn’t ever want to hear from him, either. Grian’s hands freeze in place, the length of white bandages hanging limply from her grip. “…what?”
Hotguy coughs as the room grows stuffy, tight with nervousness and uncertainty. “It’s just… I’ve noticed that you don’t seem to like being around me much. And after all the times you spilt something on me or ran away—” Grian cringes “—well, I figured I must’ve done something, right? I’m sorry, for whatever it was.”
Or, four (4) times Griande was proven wrong about Hotguy's character and the one (1) time Hotguy was proven right about hers.
