“Yeah, Prowl. I think I might like somethin’ like that.”
Jazz raised a servo, rubbing at his neck-cables in an emotion Prowl could not yet pinpoint.
“So long as it’s us — me ‘n you.”Or: Prowl’s life was beginning to look back up. He’d found a place in Iacon, deliberately leaving every detail of his past in Praxus behind.
Jazz is not so willing to let him forget.

Summary
By all means, he was a droid. Expendable, monotonous and compliant. He should not have been able to discern the panic in his power-module as the threat of deactivation loomed near, and he should not have felt a desire to live more than he did to serve.
Or,
Prowl is a constructed drone, serving obediently under Praxus and its enforcers. A near-death experience leaves him with undesired sentience, and a mission lending him to Optimus Prime faces him with far too many loose ends.

Summary
Prowl knew they were different, but he simply couldn’t remember why they were different. If he could find a way to unlock the memories hidden deep within his processor, he might finally know who he was and why he was as he was.
Having escaped the Institution with another youngling in tow, Red Alert could only hope they make it to the northern border in one piece. Ever wary of mechs, Red Alert is torn between believing that the strange, young Praxian indeed had no memory of who or what he was or that the mech would turn on him and kill him in his recharge.
With the war a few vorns in and with no end in sight, the two start their journey to the border in hopes of freedom...that is if they survive.
