Summary
In the darkness, Bruce tried to see who had been thrown into the cell with him. He could hear heavy, ragged breathing, as if the other person was trying to regain their breath. Did they need help? Was it safe to check on them?
Suddenly, they took a deep breath. It sounded like they got to their feet, far more lightly than Bruce had expected based on the way they had been dragged into the cell and thrown in with him. The person came closer.
“Hi, Bruce,” Dick said.

Summary
Dick Grayson is eight, Bruce Wayne is trying, and there's a walk home in the rain.
Bruce is looking at him. He looks like a constipated penguin trying to juggle, all stilted movements and abject confusion. Penguins don’t even know what juggling is: they would have no idea what they were doing. To be fair, Bruce probably doesn’t know what he's doing either.

Summary
Tim’s gaze, gunmetal gray, slices down the length of his arms, the pistol, to the last target on the far end. Cordage under his skin jumps. His shot goes high, missing center mass, blowing off the target’s hypothetical lower jaw.
Tim’s arms sag. He looks to Dick, who’s watching the destroyed remnants of steel-backed paper spit smoke.
“Good,” Dick says. Tim points the pistol at the floor.

A Canon Divergence AU in which Kaz and Jordie both make it out of the Reaper's Barge alive, but Kaz still becomes Dirtyhands. Insights into Kaz's childhood and why he became Dirtyhands while Jordie doesn't, and how Kaz becomes close to the crows.
-One of the letters is from Jordie and Kaz stops and stares.
“What?” Inej asks him. She doesn’t look at the scribbled words on the back of the envelope until Kaz tilts it towards her to read, and when she does, her face morphs into one of pure confusion.
Kaz Fucking BREKKER or whatever your name is, if you don’t reply to this letter you are going to be in so much trouble. You’re in trouble regardless, but be prepared, you dumbass. I am so fucking mad at you. - Jordan Rietveld, Lola’s Inn, Lij, Southeastern Kerch.

Summary
“If you’re here for something honest and respectable, I’ll eat my guns piecemeal,” said Jesper. He scrubbed his face. “How long have you been telling those poor girls about your sick mother in Oldendaal?”
“It was Zierfoort, actually.”
“I don’t care where it was! What are you doing?”
“I thought I wasn’t supposed to involve you in my schemes anymore.” said Kaz petulantly, glancing in the mirror to rearrange his jacket.
“Kaz, you playing the victim is about as natural as a flock of lime-green flamingos, so don’t bother,” said Jesper. “Is it a heist? A blackmail job? Gathering information?”
“Who said it was just one thing?” said Kaz, straightening his cuffs with two brisk jerks. “This place is the playground for the children of the rich and prosperous, Jes. I could have a million reasons for being here. But since you’re here for reasons both honest and respectable, I can assure you I’ll stay out of your way–”
