15 year old Monty (Lightning McQueen) gets thrown from one foster family to another and everyone is somehow terrible or doesn't want him. After an emergency, he comes to Paul (Doc Hudson). Paul tries to make it as nice for Monty as possible but Monty doesn't like doctors and racers for certain reasons - how convenient that Paul is both. Monty tries to get away from there but later realizes how different Paul is from the others and that it might be a home where he can finally be himself. How can Paul convince him and show him fatherly affection? How will Monty learn to love racing? And who is the man who takes Monty away from Paul just as he's starting to like it there?
