Summary
A short amount of time has passed since the recreation of the world. Fiora lay resting in an ancient High Entian chamber, and Shulk is left on the outside with his friends in waiting. What is left of the Bionis decomposes miles outside the renewed Colony, and any journeys of exploration must be held off, as it is too dangerous to walk the Ether-saturated surface. But when Alvis, a man everyone had assumed to have disappeared, shows himself to Shulk in a dream, he is presenting an offer of adventure the young heir cannot refuse.
This is a long, post-game fic, so, obviously, spoilers abound. If you have not heard of the short story within the Monado Archives, I recommend listening to chuggaaconroy's reading of it, as the canon information there does play a large part in this, along with my own headcanons, and ideas. This will be ongoing for a while, and I will update as frequently as I can. Enjoy.

When the vision came to Shulk, it seemed obvious what he had to do... Dickson leaning out over the edge of the metal flooring and the sudden appearance of the aerial mechon knocking him into the gaping chasm that plunged through the chest of the Mechonis.
Shulk tries to save Dickson, but in doing so, Shulk and Alvis end up falling through the Mechonis.
And it’s a long way back up.

Prior to joining Shinra, if someone asked Cloud to describe his hero Sephiroth he would’ve said 'inspiring'. After meeting him, Cloud would add the word 'dangerous'. When Cloud became Sephiroth's student, he could only say Sephiroth is 'impossible to please'.
While Cloud struggles to meet the high standard set for him, Sephiroth seems to have greater plans for Cloud than he could ever guess.
Why does Sephiroth look for scars Cloud does not have? Why does the general seem to be reciting a script only he knows the words to?

“Satoru?” The word rings, fuzzy in his ears as it whines like tinnitus, familiar and heart stopping.
‘I’m dead.’ He can’t even hear his own thoughts over the loudness of the world, staggering where he stands, eyes still fixated on the sky, on the sun. ‘I’m dead, I died, I felt my heart stop, this can’t be, it can’t-’
“Hey,” it comes again, a little more urgent than before, a little closer, another hammer to his ears and all the noise shrieking behind his eyes. He recoils hard enough to go stumbling as a hand reaches for him, covered in flesh rather than empty bone, tan and recognizable. Unbelievable.
There’s something wet trickling from his nose. Bile stings on the back of his tongue. The words dissolve into the rest of the white noise as he stares up at the blue of the sky, and tries to remember if he’d ever had a hallucination as bright as this.
‘I have to be dead,’ he thinks. Somehow, he isn’t.
Or: Gojo Satoru goes back in time. He makes a couple of changes for the better.

I stepped into the hallway to fetch my coat, when I noticed with mild alarm that it was gone. Had I left it at the hospital? At Leo’s? I turned around to ask Henry if he knew of its whereabouts and was surprised when he was right behind me, a coat in his outstretched hand. It was lovely - thick, brown and expensive-looking, with a fleece lining in a cut which meant it would reach down to one’s ankles. I stared at it dumbly, until Henry was forced to speak.
“Here. Yours was too thin for the weather.”
I stared at him, mouth open a little in shock. This was the closest thing to affection - or any sort of care for another person - I had seen Henry display. The flush was back in full force as I took the item of clothing from him, and rubbed the material of the sleeve between my thumb and forefinger. It was soft, and warm._____________
Or, Richard’s recovery is mental as well as physical after spending the winter at Leo’s. He becomes prone to attacks of shivering, but no matter how hard he tries to conceal it from Henry, he finds out anyway.
