“New faces huh, it’s been a while. Ochako, ready the cannons as a precaution,” He ordered at his Gunner.
“Yes Captain.”
They inched in closer to the object as the sound of a cannon went off from the neighbouring ship, however nothing came their way.
“You said there was only one ship,” He yelled up at Tokoyami, who was hanging from the main mast, looking out into the sea.
“There is, Captain?” He replied quickly.
“Then what the fuck are the firing at?"
“Uh, it seems they’re firing… at the water, Captain.”
Or
Captain Bakugo and his crew discover an injured Siren, and against all his good judgement, and the crews, Katsuki decides to save it.

Instead, he’s greeted with a terrified stare, red eyes wide with panic, hair mussed and mask half torn, and as Kacchan looks back at him with nothing but fear, Izuku feels his blood run cold.
Because beside him, holding Katsuki up by nothing but his neck, is Shigaraki.-

She watches as that gleam of light slowly crawls back on his face, leaf-like coloured eyes locking with hers. “I miss—” He sighs defeatedly, sounding tired. “I miss someone.” A weak whisper, unwelcome grief cracking his voice as he tried to hold back his tears.
He faces Hiruma with heavy eyes, subtle plea in them yet his heart feels black from guilt. Izuku hated being a burden, he knew he was sick, he knew he was old, he knew Hiruma and his family would be there for him, but he hated the feeling. He wasn’t used to it. He always felt guilty watching them do the simplest task for him.
Weak. Useless. Baggage.
“What are you feeling, Midoriya-san?” Dipping her head lower to catch his eye but with each passing silence, the longing in his face deepened.

Summary
Katsuki’s grip on the frame slips, and he barely manages to right himself before he can topple over. The hand on his side clutches harder, collectively drawing the group's eyes to it. He opens his mouth like he's trying to speak, but it's painful, as if every breath he takes is a searing flame in his lungs instead of air.
Izuku can't stop the broken gasp from tearing through his throat, barreling up the tightness there. He barely registers the guilt that Rody wears openly on his face. Barely registers the fear-drenched whispers of “no, no—no fucking way” and “oh my god, i'm gonna—i think i'm going to throw up.”
All he registers is the way Katsuki clutches at his own side, as if in shame, with those shaky blood-stained fingers. All he registers is the unfocused haze clouding red eyes; dilated, then not, bloodshot and strained. He registers the tear in Katsuki's shirt near his ribs under his palm.
As everything starts falling apart behind him in flurries of muffled gasps and curses, all Izuku can manage to ask himself is how the hell they got here.
Or: Katsuki and Izuku's journey as they attempt to survive a sudden Quirk-induced zombie apocalypse.

But the creek is the first time he remembers stretching his hand out. The first time he remembers extending his fingers, eyes fixed on soaked blonde strands, and thinking, grab on, grab on, I can save you and I'll never let go.
He wishes, still, that Katsuki had taken his hand. Had let their fingers lock together, tiny but surprisingly strong, knuckles scraped to hell and back from daytime wandering and playground mishaps. Had let Izuku leverage him out of the water, or perhaps they would have fallen back in together, but at least it would have been together. Perhaps they wouldn't have broken apart so spectacularly, so destructively, so violently.
But Katsuki had not taken his hand, not in this life, and so it would go.
It's always been a river, for them.
