“Where exactly?”
“The Grotto hotel.”
“And we walked here from…?”
“The Kuwon shrine.”
“What did we do there?”
Yangchen beamed. She pressed her entire face into the side of Kavik’s neck, feeling like she was trying to hide a sunburst from him. “We got married.”
Kavik and Yangchen wake up together—the morning after the fake wedding of the century.

She didn’t begrudge him his frustrations, chalking it up to the heat and the lack of backup on this mission. She just wished he would quit making the job harder than it already was. As if it wasn’t bad enough one of Earth King Feishan’s underlings was demanding they suck up to Lord Susanto and convince him to end a trade war… as if it wasn’t bad enough they were stuck in the doldrums on the precipice of monsoon season, in all its sticky, humid glory… as if the stakes weren’t high enough…
She had to learn a dance, too.
So Kavik could spare her his moods.
A creepy government official Yangchen unfortunately has to brownnose invites her to a traditional dance. She only has a couple days to learn it—and who should know the moves but her longtime friend and companion, Kavik.
But with temperatures rising and personal space shrinking, both find themselves more than a little out-of-step.

Summary
I am a weight, he told himself. I am an inanimate pile of stones for her and nothing more. This was medicine. Treatment for nightmares. A practical means of helping the Avatar sleep through the night, a one-time request in an unusual situation, something she could ask of Yingsu or Juji or Akuudan or anybody. So he could put aside the fact that he was in love with her, because he would do anything for her, and he refused to make anything about their friendship “weird” because she’d asked him to “hold her down” one time.
Because surely this was a one-time thing.
To help her feel grounded and in-her-body while she sleeps, Yangchen asks Kavik to... lay on top of her. A little odd, but what are friends for?

Jon only grimaced. “No.”
"I heard… I wanted to… make sure everything was okay?”
“Everything’s not,” Jon said, surprising even himself at the darkness in his voice.
Jon's frustrated--at the Daily Planet, at school, at the St. Cloud's gala... at the whole world, it feels like. And he knows exactly what he needs to use as an outlet.

"Damian’s catlike eyes stayed trained on him. To anyone else, it might’ve been unnerving. Jon only kept smiling and driving.
Until he heard the squeaking in the stalks.
Without any warning, he pulled the truck over and parked. Damian jolted upright. 'What is it?'
'Nothing,' Jon said quickly. 'Prairie fire. I’ll handle it.'
'Fire?!'
But Jon was already slamming the car door behind him, running through the golden fields."
Jon and Damian's summer drive through the endless Kansas fields is interrupted when Jon hears something struggling in the wheat. He rushes in to save the day, with Damian close behind, and when all is said and done, it's just them, a castilleja blossom, and the beaming summer heat.
Which would make anyone act against their better judgement.

No, the texts are going viral because no one can believe how bad this “Jane” is at sexting.
The women of the world are outraged. The men of the world are baffled. No one can understand why Ilya Rozanov, whose abs have their own fan club, is wasting his time on ‘a piece of cardboard that wished to be turned into a real girl’ (this particular joke has 300k likes and counting).
Or: After a social media trend mocks Shane's sexting skills, he tries to improve them. It goes about as poorly as you'd expect.
