Summary

Summary
Set in S7 around the time Celina graduates the FTO program. Tim and Lucy are trying to figure out their way back to each other. There are obstacles, an enemy from their past is unexpectedly coming back to haunt the, and this time it's Tim who needs saving.

Damn it.
Lucy slowly dropped her gun, moving only as much as absolutely necessary. Not that she could actually move a lot; the spindly arm wrapped around her body dug painfully into her stomach.
What had started out as a call to check on suspicious noises coming from a family home had turned into a foot pursuit of a suspected burglar. Because of the confusing layout of the maze of back alleys they were pursuing him through, Lucy had called for backup, which had arrived in the form of Tim and Miles. More backup was on the way; there were simply too many ways to escape.
They had split up in order to funnel their suspect back to the main road where backup would be waiting to cut him off. Tim had sent Miles with Lucy, for whatever reason (although some sort of Tim Test was always a good guess), while he had taken Seth to approach from the other direction.
Lucy was pretty sure that Tim was regretting that decision.

When Lucy and Tim are elected as the school's captains, they're unexpectedly thrown together to plan team events that spark a fierce competition between them. But as they spend more time together and the heat of their rivalry gets to them, they begin to wonder whether their relationship is fuelled by their determination to win, or something more.
They're both scarred and broken in their own ways and terrified of whatever's between them, but maybe some things are just meant to be.

She kind of liked the spark she’d seen in him this morning, and the way he’d approached her and yelled at her had caused something warm and funny to happen in her belly.
She kind of wants to poke at him again, just to see what happens.
