Summary
Everyone is familiar with Daryl Dixon's scars and his shame over them. All we know about his childhood is that his father drank and beat the family, and his mother drank and burned up in a house fire when Daryl was eight/nine years old. But what happened in that very unhappy home? As Tolstoy famously wrote, "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
I've used my own experiences with friends and lovers who grew up in dysfunctional and abusive families to frame this story-I also wanted to give Daryl a story of his own regarding the lost years between his father beating him, leaving his father with Merle and his and Merle's life before the zombie apocalypse.
This idea grew out of a chapter I'm writing for Bruised Souls and it just took on a life of its own. Hope you find it interesting.Bookmarked by kaze_chan
