“I feel like I’m burning,” Goro says, shuddering. His voice crackles to prove it. “Is it supposed to feel like this?”
“I don’t know.” Akira dips his face into Goro’s neck, biting into the taut flesh. Goro gasps and keens. “I’ve never—not like this.”
Goro laughs. It buzzes against Akira’s tongue as he licks up Goro’s neck, licks back into his mouth, kissing him again. It still tastes sweet. Discomfort swells up into Akira’s chest. There’s something he’s forgetting, something important.
“Goro,” Akira says, breathing the word into another kiss. “We should…”
(Or: Goro and Akira get hit with a cognitive aphrodisiac—or so they assume.)

For a few tender moments, they just stood there. Goro Akechi, living through a normal day in his marriage and his husband, close to tears he was glad he could hide by standing with his back to him.
“You’re acting off today, what’s wrong?” Goro asked quietly, lips nibbling affectionately at Akira’s ear.
“Nothing,” he quickly reassured him and Goro huffed.
Akira keeps getting offered the same deal every second February. Each time, he refuses. Each time, it gets harder. Because Maruki simply never stops showing him the future he could have but never had.

“Do you actually think you would ever lose to me? In a duel, I mean.” Akechi asks, his voice is thin. Ren rationally knows that Akechi will be fine, the irrational part of his brain worries.
“You’re powerful, that’s for sure. But I wouldn’t lose. Not to you.” He responds while rifling through his pockets for healing items.
“I feel the same. You’re the one person I refuse to lose to.” He draws in a shaky breath.
“I hate you.” Akechi finally says. Ren nods though Akechi isn’t exactly looking at him. “You’re…” He trails off so Ren decides to speak up.
“I get it. There’s a part of me that hates you too.”
