Sometimes it's a lack of trust because trust is a fragile thing and it's hard to trust someone with a secret when the world has taught us how dangerous people can be.
Sometimes people take their secrets to the grave. Midoriya Inko was one of those people.

Summary
In the age of superpowers, ghosts aren't a popular topic of conversation. Ghosts are fictional, after all, a relic of past beliefs.
But what happens when a boy is born with the ability to see ghosts? And what if said boy is quirkless? Of course, nobody cares, the lack of quirk always takes precedent. That's why Midoriya Izuku has to hide the ghosts, be scared of anyone assuming the quirkless kid is going insane. Ghosts don't exist, after all. But what happens when Izuku does get a quirk? Well, he just has another secret to keep.
As secrets pile up, Izuku has to learn how to trust the people closest to him, even as the fear begins crawling up his throat. But, eventually, all that's hidden has to come to light.
Izuku has to juggle new relationships, One for All, and the weird ghosts tied to the centruries old quirk. All while villains breathe down UA's neck and Izuku's home life falls apart in the midst of it.

Midoriya Izuku has a stockpiling quirk that takes the energy from fresh corpses (lovingly referred to as 'souls') and uses them to boost his natural abilities accordingly. Others call it 'scavenging', or 'grave robbing', but Izuku just calls it recycling.
Of course, it's kind of hard to be a hero when his quirk relies on things Not Being Saved, but that's fine. He'll figure it out.
WARNING: This fic contains a lot of animal death-- death and corpses are very important to the story, and I don't really pull punches with this sort of thing, so if you've got a soft heart for fictional animals, this might not be for you.

“So you’re really a hero?” the man, Midoriya, asks as they walk through the dark, wet halls of the underground base.
“Regrettably,” Shota answers.
“Hey, but now you get a chance to take 'em down from the inside. Ah, here we are!” he calls as they walk through the large metal door, “Your new weapon, All for One.”
Shota stalls, his eyes going wide for a second before he remembers his role. What the hell? This was the ‘demon’ he was supposed to be investigating? The ‘lord of evil’?
The small figure sits up, rubbing their face tiredly. They turn and wide, scared green eyes stare at him.
All for One is… a child?!
Or
There’s word from the underground that ‘All for One’ has returned. Aizawa is sent undercover to investigate these claims and is surprised to see that the so-called ‘king of the underworld’ is a small, scared child locked behind bars. Aizawa’s going to save him, Izuku tries to learn to be a kid, Tsukauchi and all might try to figure out what to do with the boy with the too familiar quirk, all while the real All For One lurks in the shadows.

Yagi Toshinori gets caught in a building collapse in his powered-down form. As he lays dying and without a successor, he offers his quirk to a young boy who is trapped alongside him.
All Might never makes it out of the building. But Midoriya Izuku does.
With no parent and a new limb-breaking quirk, he becomes a ward of UA.

Summary
