Lighting doesn’t do the kid any favors. Malnourished, grimy, and far too young to be creeping around a hole-in-the-wall dive like this—with an oversized knitted sweatshirt that hits mid-thigh to hide shorts right on the edge of falling apart, he knows the type: the kid’s dirt poor, slum bred and raised.

"Without the world outside, Light lives in this game with L. At times, when feeling charitable, he considers their time together a dance, a series of steps that separately appear strange but together are a beautiful arrangement. Fighting, thought Light doesn’t generally approve, is the only place he can break down the middle, show L what he’s made of the golden son. And after the fight’s over, they come back to their floor and L demands his own tension be broken. One part doesn’t work without the other."
(After L gets a bruise from their fight, Light can't stop thinking about the marks they leave on each other.)

Reno breaks out in a full shiver when Rude rolls up his shirtsleeves to reveal his forearms, one of which is covered in swirls of black ink. When Rude unbuckles his belt and slowly pulls it free from the loops, running a hand down the thick leather, Reno sways like he’s going to pass out. He stares at Rude’s knees, taking shallow breaths.
Rude doubles the belt in his hand and lifts his partner's chin with the loop.
“Belt ok?”
Tseng pairs Rude with Reno to help even out and protect the unpredictable younger Turk. Rude keeps finding reasons to put his hands on his partner. He's not gentle.

With nothing else to guide him and little else to do, Mahito sates his whims and tails the human. It shouldn’t be an issue. Normal people don’t see him. It shouldn’t have mattered if he followed him a block or ten.
It shouldn’t have mattered—but it would.
