“If I wouldn't like it. Don’t people say try it before you say you don’t like it?” Mike looks at him again; his eyebrows raised with a small grin on his face.
“Um… Yeah, I guess. Where is this coming from?” Will asks, turning his body to fully face Mike.
He shrugs.
“Just been thinking about it.”
“About kissing guys?” Will fires the question quickly, wanting to get to the bottom of this.
“No.”
Will tilts his head.
“Okay, then what were you thinking about?” Will laughs dryly, Mike pulling his lips into his mouth.
“Well… about trying it, but not like… guys.” Mikes face starts to flush.
“Okay, then what? A specific guy?” Will laughs, letting one leg stretch over the couch cushions, his other still held to his chest.
“You could say that.” Mike whispers, his eyes darting over Will’s face.

Summary
All at once, he was an angel, shy and soft and ready. Completely Mike’s. Mike couldn’t believe they were doing this – that Will was letting him do this. It was the best of dreams.
Mike and Will had a tradition. When they did something for the first time, they did it together. Firsts were their thing. Mike takes this very, very seriously.

Summary
Will tightened his grip on the blanket, curling into it for comfort. One of his socks slipped out, the cool air brushing his skin before he slowly tucked it back under the covers. He was still tired. Exhausted, even.
Then he noticed the footsteps.
They were slower than Jonathan’s. It sounded more hesitant. They came closer, close enough that Will could hear someone breathing behind him, warm and steady. His body tensed slightly, confusion creeping in through the fog of sleep.
A familiar voice murmured softly near his ear.
“Will,” it said. “Kiss me.”

“It’s not like I don’t drink at college too, you know, I mean, just because I don’t go to frat parties, if you’re worried I’m going to judge you or something—”
“That’s not what—” Will huffed out a laugh, staring up at the ceiling. He turned around. “I go to gay bars, okay? It’s—just, not your scene. Obviously.”
Will’s face twisted on that last word, half a grimace. For some reason, it was a punch to the gut. Something defiant rose up within Mike.
“Well, do you have to be a card-carrying member to get in, or something?” he asked, eyebrows raised. “I mean, a bar’s a bar, right?”
Will’s face broke into an uncertain smile. “Mike…”
“I came here for the Will Byers New York experience,” Mike said, earnestly. “Am I going to get it, or what?”
Mike visits Will in New York and realizes a few things.

Summary
William got to his feet and turned around, prayer book clutched to his chest. Michael was standing in the center of the chapel, obviously just come from sparring practice. He was still wearing his dented cuirass, a leather pauldron on his right shoulder. The moonlight through the stained-glass windows painted him in blue and gold.
“Forgot to leave your armor behind in the gymnasium?” asked William lightly, skirting around him to set the prayer book back in its tabernacle.
“Something like that,” said Michael. He stepped out of the shaft of light, joining William at the perimeter of the circular room.
William closed the ornate wooden door of the tabernacle and turned to face him. “How did you know I’d be here?”
“I know you,” Michael said simply. I love you, he might as well have said, for the way it sent William’s heart skittering inside his chest.
Michael has been betrothed to the princess since their infancy. But it’s her brother he really wants.

“I’m just not sure if that's something... Friends... Should do...” Will whispered, so soft Mike had to think about what he had just said. The word made something in Will’s chest collapse, quiet and sudden, like he’d expected it and still wasn’t ready for it.
“Right... Friends...” Mike mumbled, letting out a sigh as he ran a hand through Will’s hair, propping himself up on his elbow. Will froze.
“No- shit, Will.. I didn’t mean it like that…” Mike stuttered, closing his eyes and letting out a sigh. Will turned to look at him, his expression unreadable as he spoke.
“Then how did you mean it, Mike?” Will spoke sternly, but his voice still shook, and it made him cringe.

Summary
"Do you love him?" Mike slurs, panting. They're both breathing hard and fast, their sternums bumping with each heaving inhale.
Guilt burns white-hot in Will's chest, reminding him of the weight of the situation. What was he going to say to Carlton when he went back to New York? There's no way he could continue their relationship after this, this is impossible to move on from.
"No." Will whispers, his voice just barely audible over the muffled sounds of the party outside.
"Why?" Mike asks, his face a strange mixture of confusion and hopefulness.
Will sighs, shaking his head slightly. "He's just not you. It's not the same."
After one last explosive fight with Mike, Will decides to use college as an opportunity to move on from him. However, filling the void doesn't come easy, even after he starts dating someone new.
AKA the cheating Byler fic I imagined the second I saw Will's epilogue boyfriend on screen.
