Summary
Written for Beifong Week 2026 | Day 08: Free Day (Theme: Gala)
..."They were too close. Close as they had been hundreds of times before, and as they had promised they would never be again.
Lin, trying to ignore the effect that this proximity had, asked in a low voice, “What song did you choose?”
For a moment, Tenzin simply observed her, still enjoying the rare and perhaps only opportunity to have her so close to him again, giving her a tender look with the question, but deep down his gaze also held an old sadness because he realized that perhaps it hadn't been a good idea to choose that song specifically for this moment, or any other, but now it was too late to go back or change anything.
He tilted his head slightly towards her so that only she could hear him.“Our song.”
...One year after the war against Kuvira, the traditional Republic City Gala Ball promises to be a night dedicated to new beginnings and celebrations. Lin and Tenzin have always tried to keep their boundaries clear to protect their choices, their remaining friendship, and the scars of the past.

Summary
Lin just wanted a few minutes of peace away from the noise, the people… and everything that always suffocated her at parties like that one.
But the spirits clearly have other plans for her.
What begins as a quiet and unassuming conversation quickly turns into something more intense.
And when the line between past and present finally breaks, the two end up going too far.
Because some things don't simply disappear.......................
