Summary
It's October on Mars, and Faye needs supplies. Spike tags along for reasons he won't admit, not even to himself.
A routine shopping trip becomes something more when Faye finds reminders of Earth's autumn, back when that still meant something. Between fake candles that smell like memories and conversations they usually avoid, two people who are very good at running from things discover that maybe the running matters less than who you're running with.
Sometimes the best moments happen in the spaces between bounties, when disaster is on hold and the universe gives you just enough time to realize that "something" might be better than nothing after all.
