Mostly because he didn't seem to exist until 20 years ago despite being much older than that. He's about the sea as much as you can get, spends long hours basically living on his boat. Man's a mariner, through and through. He works independently of any company or family business on his crab boat, and mainly sells to the restaurant inn on the docks for money and a room.
Hank works alone. And Connor has just been assigned to his boat.

“Therapy android…?” Hank said, squinting into the morning light coming in from his front door, half awake and wearing only boxers, an old tee, a ratty bathrobe, and some chewed up slippers. “I didn't order no goddamn therapy android.”
“I was ordered by your department, Lieutenant,” Connor, the android, replied easily, “I was told that Captain Fowler had informed you of this previously.”
Hank grunted in reply, sipping from his coffee as he thought back. He was on day five of his forced sabbatical and some details had all blurred together. “Wait, what kind of therapy? Are you here to teach me some new-fangled yoga or somethin’?”
“I am a prototype Alpha Android, sir, programmed in the specialized handling and care of postmenopausal and stress-suffering omegas-”
The door was slammed in his face, leaving nothing but the peaceful silence of the morning broken up by a few song birds. Connor blinked for a moment, his routine interrupted, before knocking again.

In the aftermath of Cole’s death, Hank turns to a cycle of self-destructive behavior to keep himself from thinking about what happened. In doing so, he sleeps, and in sleeping he meets Connor, the sole other occupant of a dreamscape they can mold into whatever they choose. Connor is the only bright part of his otherwise dark days, so Hank isn’t that surprised when he starts falling for him, but he knows that it’s wrong. Connor isn’t real, after all. He’s just a dream, and you can only dream for so long before you have to wake up.

“Lord Anderson, really—,” he breaks off when a servant enters carrying a tray of soup with a weak smelling broth. Connor knows he wouldn’t be able to keep down anything much stronger than this, and his stomach grumbles in gratitude.
Before he can reach out for the spoon, the lord plucks it from the tray. Large, warm fingers ensconced in a silk glove find his chin to tug at his gaze. Obeying the pull, Connor meets the Lord’s clear, blue eyes, “You’re my husband, not some merchant off the street. You don’t have to refer to me as Lord.”
He releases his grip on Connor’s face in favor of retrieving a spoonful of soup. He brings it to Connor’s lips with a quiet, “Eat.” Too queasy to argue, Connor opens his mouth. Warm, salty liquid spills across his tongue and it fills him with heavenly relief. The lord relinquishes the spoon and Connor takes the next several sips under his own steam.
Feeling less like he’s about to faint or lose the contents of his stomach, he asks, “How should I refer to you then?”

“What the heck? Mom!” The blond haired teenager shouted in panic as he approached the body of a young man who was bloodied and barely breathing, “What do we do?”
Equally panicked, the woman flapped her hand as she was already on the phone to 9-1-1, frantically reeling off their location to the operator on the call, “Henry, honey, calm down. An ambulance is on the way.”
Hank would normally be pissed that his mother had called him Henry, but this situation was too scary for him to begin to complain. They only went to the store to pick up some milk, and when they arrived they were suddenly trying to save the life of someone who had clearly been attacked. By what was a whole can of worms Hank did not want to open, and with the wide-eyed expression on his mother's face, he assumed she didn’t want to either.
