Summary
"Did you always want to be a priest?" For a moment, Wolfwood forgets the difference between the imaginary and reality. It's as if Vash has reached into his mind, asking the question in the space of his thoughts and not in the span of this room. He spins back into the present, turning to look at Vash who's waiting expectantly, eyes even bluer than usual.
"I didn't want to be anything." It's perhaps more than what Vash was bargaining for but he only nods, sage in his compassion toward even the most nonsensical of dilemmas. "Free? I guess that's what I wanted to be. Free."
Vash smiles, bemusement causing his cheeks to rise. "So you took up the cross?"
"That came after—when I grew up enough to realise the truth."
Or: Vash trusts very few. He trusts Wolfwood though.
