How does one determine if a table or a staircase or a bit of parchment is evil? The knight's uncertain. Unlike many of his knightly peers, he had studied the seven liberal arts and been awarded a university degree, but those years of education had involved coursework focused on rhetoric and mathematics and anatomical alignment, nothing on determining ill omens.
The knight creeps forward and tips the parchment up toward the mote-heavy sunlight streaming through the slatted tower windows.
