Peter made to swat at him for the jab, though spectacularly missed. Hand-eye coordination was wishing upon a star at this point. “Early my ass. You look at a clock recently?”
Mark cracked a smile, lopsided and obnoxious and terribly lovely. “Miss me?”
The three times Peter Strahm narrowly managed to avoid claiming the title of The World's Biggest Sap & the one time he got thoroughly decked by the enormity of his own emotion.

Mark’s hand, which was previously resting in the dip of Peter’s waist, moves up and tangles itself in Peter’s hair. Mark presses a kiss to the back of his head and smiles slightly at the rhythm that Peter had started to tap on his skin.
“Who are you now?”

Mark is inside him when he asks, “what was it that Perez showed you at the crime scene last week?”
There’s something about the lightheartedness of his tone that causes Peter to bark out a laugh that seems far too hostile for what it is. It sounds almost like a threat.
“We should make that a rule,” Peter says, chest heaving from exertion. Mark pushes into him harshly, fingers bruising his waist, puncturing a low groan from Peter’s throat, “no talking about work when we fuck.”
Mark laughs at that, and his laugh is softer than Peter’s, but somehow sounds far more lecherous. When Mark bites into the meat of his shoulder, he’s almost disappointed when no blood is drawn.
