They stretch and burn against the press of the water but I cannot force it out, cannot cough, cannot move to swim to the surface. Summary
Estel was warm and solid, his murmured words soothing as he held Legolas together. Slowly but surely, the prince’s sobs began to ebb. All his energy had seeped out of him with the tears, and he could barely muster the will to be embarrassed as Estel helped ease him back against the stone wall like a sleepy child who had worn himself out fussing.
The pair sat quietly for a moment, then Legolas spoke in a thin voice. “They said she died quickly, I should find some comfort in that."
“That is little comfort to a son without a mother.”

Legolas pressed on through the halls and into the caves on unsteady legs that once possessed inhuman agility. He stumbled more than once, fighting to regain his footing as he scanned the faces surrounding him. Wizened human, elven soldier, curly-headed hobbit, none of them could help him. None of them were– “ Estel .” His friend’s face swam into sharp relief, and Legolas pitched forward as the world around him went grey, then white, then black as a starless sky.

“You’re a rogue. A villain.” The words were all but whispered into Mercutio’s ear, and damn it all, he moaned gently against Tybalt’s fingers.
Mercutio felt Tybalt breathe in, surprised. For a moment he expected Tybalt to push him away, disgusted, or to simply cut his throat. However, Tybalt suddenly chuckled, a smoky sound that sent a delicious shiver down Mercutio’s spine.
“I should have known,” he purred, and although Mercutio could hardly see his face, he could taste the grin his enemy was wearing.
