“Do you really want to go to school?”
The question startles Collei out of her excitement. She looks up at him with wide eyes, surprised, a spoonful of Padisarah pudding halfway to her mouth.
“You’re not just saying that because Tighnari suggested it, right?” he questions.
Collei lowers the spoon and shakes her head vehemently. “No, of course not!” she exclaims. “I — I like my homeschooling with Tighnari, and he’s always very patient and kind when he teaches me, but it’s… well… I just…” She glances down towards the table, fidgeting with her hands. “I think it’d be nice. To go to school. I never really got to do that before — before everything.”
‘Everything’ is a word far too small to encompass all of Collei’s everything, Cyno thinks.

Summary
Tighnari is halfway through laughing out a witty response when Cyno stoops down, almost as if impulsively, and presses a kiss to the top of his head.
Tighnari freezes. Cyno must feel it, because he stops moving immediately. "Ah—Cyno—" Tighnari splutters, and Cyno lets out some kind of strangled hum. "What was that for?"
Cyno takes a slow breath and lets it hiss out through his teeth. "Um," he says awkwardly. "Good morning kiss?"
(Five times Cyno kisses Tighnari, and one time Tighnari returns the favor.)

On those evenings, in the early days of her arrival, the Dendro wielder would sit outside as the sunset came upon the horizon, mind and heart in disarray. How many nights had he sat there, outside his home as Collei slept fitfully, wondering why that true General had come and gone as quickly as the Mondstadt breeze he’d brought with him in the first place?
As if the constellations couldn’t answer his seemingly unanswerable questions, Tighnari would just raise an arm, stretching up to the sky in defeat, his pensive mind already setting up patrol schedules for the next week.

“It was overdue,” explains Cyno, which actually, really, explains nothing at all.
Or, the five times Cyno gave Tighnari something that reminded him of Tighnari, and the one time Tighnari gave Cyno something priceless.

In Sumeru, people do not dream. Cyno had learned this fact in childhood, diligently writing what was being preached alongside his classmates, staining the side of his palm black with ink as his pen flew across the page. Cyno discovered himself to be a high achiever, a renowned scholar, a respected leader, and all-in-all a successful man.
He never discovered himself a dreamer.
But now, after the ash of battle, the adrenaline of a fight fought and a challenge won, in such proximity to his childhood best friend, Tighnari… If Cyno can’t have, then he wants to dream.
